The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on earth. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. The Stations of the Cross are commonly found in churches as a series of 14 small icons or images. We can imitate this in our own domestic church by using this product to deepen our prayer life.
We can live more liturgically by seeking to make our homes more like the church through decoration and symbols. By doing this we help ourselves to be prompted to pray and to remember the tenants of our faith. The stations of the cross are one of those items that we keep up year round, not just during Lent and Easter, so that we can draw nearer to Christ's sacrifice in daily life.
Cut from eighth inch Birch wood, these piece are left natural and engraved with the Stations of the Cross scenes. Each of the 14 stations measures approximately 3x2 inches and sits in one of two 15-inch bases.
The bases are engraved with, "We adore Thee, O Christ, and praise Thee," and "Because by Thy holy cross, Thou hast redeemed the world." The set includes a small purple bag for storing the stations and a 4"x6" print with a list of the stations.
Note: Lifestyle photos that include other items are not included. These pictures are intended to give you decor inspiration.
